TruthScore is a YouTube scam-risk checker made up of two parts: a Chrome extension and the website at truthscore.online. This page explains what each part does with your data.

Chrome extension

When you open the extension on a YouTube video page, it reads that page's title, channel name, and thumbnail so it can display them in the popup, and sends the video's ID to our backend (truthscore.onrender.com) to be scored. The extension only accesses the page you're currently on, and only when you interact with it — it does not run in the background or read other tabs.

The extension stores two things locally on your device, using Chrome's storage API, and does not sync or transmit them anywhere except as described above:

• a daily count of how many free analyses you've used, so it can enforce the free-tier limit and reset it each day;
• the result of your most recently analyzed video, so it can show a score badge if you return to that video.

The extension does not collect your name, email address, browsing history, location, or any personally identifiable information, and does not sell or share data with third parties.

Backend analysis service

To score a video, our backend fetches that video's public metadata, statistics, and top comments from the YouTube Data API. It does not store this data after generating a response, and does not log or retain your IP address or device information beyond standard hosting-provider request logs.

Website (truthscore.online)

The website offers a free scan with an optional step: to reveal the full report, you can enter your email address. If you do, that email (along with the video title and score you were viewing) is sent to a Google Sheet we use to keep track of interest in the product. We use it to occasionally follow up about the product — we do not sell it, and we do not use it for anything unrelated to TruthScore. Your email is also saved in your browser's local storage so the site can recognize you as a returning user and skip the gate next time.

If you choose to upgrade to TruthScore Pro, payment is handled entirely by PayPal via their hosted checkout — we do not receive or store your card or PayPal account details ourselves.

Third parties this product relies on

• YouTube Data API — public video/channel/comment data used to generate a score.
• ReturnYouTubeDislike API — hidden dislike-count estimates.
• Google Sheets / Google Apps Script — stores emails submitted through the website's unlock form.
• PayPal — processes Pro subscription payments on the website.
• Render — hosts our backend analysis service.

Your choices

You can remove the extension's locally stored data at any time by uninstalling it, or by clearing its storage via chrome://extensions. You can clear your saved email from the website by clearing your browser's local storage for truthscore.online. To ask us to delete an email you've submitted from our records, contact us using the details below.
